When I first got pregnant one of my biggest concerns about dressing during pregnancy was being about to feel like myself when my usual high-waisted, waist defining style tricks were no longer an option. During any big life transition, whether it’s a job change, becoming a mother, a big move or just entering a new phase, being able to dress how you want to and feel like yourself is a luxury that you shouldn’t have to give up, and I really didn’t want to.
The “little black dress” or LBD is a modern-day classic that I heavily rely on in my usual dressing life, and as my bump grew my go-to LBDs quickly became unwearable. So my hunt for the perfect maternity LBD began. I was lucky that I didn’t have to look far, as I got the chance to shop the latest collection from HATCH while I was in New York for fashion week. Their Luncheon Dress has been a go-to ever since I brought it home working with casual and super dressy pieces alike.
The v-neck and A-line shape work perfectly with my pregnancy curves, and the fabric is so high quality that I know it will last all the way through baby number 2. It’s been great to layer under jackets, vests and pile on lots of jewelry. Even though I don’t think the word “little” can describe my dress at this point, I’m so happy to be able to wear the little black dress just like I would if I wasn’t knocked up. Feeling as much like my normal self during pregnancy has been a luxury that I’m so thankful for!
