Last Thursday kicked off the shows at New York Fashion Week, and I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t a little sad not to be there. I chose to sit out this season because I’m just not ready to be that far away from Baby Dittner, and she’s too little to make the journey. But don’t worry, I will be back in September covering all the shows and styles you want to see. Here’s a look back at what I wore the past three fashion week seasons, just for fun!
Even though I’m not at fashion week, I feel like my outfit is definitely NYFW appropriate. Fashion week dressing is all about showing your style while being comfortable enough to run from show to show, and this outfit is definitely that. I wore this outfit to lunch at Toulouse with my sister, and felt 0h-so-chic in this monochromatic look.
A high waisted skirt isn’t the first thing I would usually pair with a fur pom beanie, but it works none the less because these two usually incompatible pieces are in the same color tone. Tonal dressing is an easy and quick style trick that requires little effort at all. When you dress head-to-toe in one color make sure to pair different textures, fabrics and patterns to avoid looking like you’re wearing a suit, or that you didn’t try at all.
Tonal dressing is a polished way to mix unexpected pieces together and still look like you meant to. I hope this helps the next time you’re feeling like wearing all black, but need to spice it up a bit!
