denim on denim

Today’s look is all about denim on denim topped off with classic accessories and a modern twist. Denim on denim, or double denim as some call it, has risen in popularity over the past few years after years of being a fashion no-no as the “Canadian tuxedo.” My favorite chambray shirt and cropped jeans come together to pull off this look, and my trusty sleeveless trench is the perfect topper for this outfit. This classic chambray shirt, most recently seen here, is one of the most versatile pieces in my closet.

I think the key to pulling off denim on denim is pairing pieces that are not the same color. This lighter chambray works well with this two-tone medium rinse jean, and if you wore a ripped boyfriend jean like this a darker chambray shirt would be the perfect complement. And, don’t be afraid to stray from the chambray button up. An off-the-shoulder chambray looks fantastic with dark skinnies.

the bag

This Gucci tote, that I think is making its first appearance on the blog, was a birthday gift from Mr Dittner years ago, and is still one of my absolute favorites. When you buy a classic piece like this tote, it truly only gets better with age. The latest version of this Gucci tote has a long strap that makes it even better for travel and busy days running around. When I was carrying my computer to and from work every day, this tote was perfect, and it’s been such a good bag for running errands and travel.

the shoes

Originally worn by prep-schoolers in the North East, loafers have been a strong trend on the runways and with street style stars alike, and I have loved wearing these pointed toe Prada loafers that I found at Cheeky Vintage. Loafers effortlessly add just the right amount of class, and no-fuss style to anything you pair them with, not to mention they are uber comfy. You cannot beat a classic Gucci loafer with a horsebit detail and, and these Bass penny loafers are so Ivy League chic to me.
