the jacket

It’s hard to find something I love more than a new take on an old classic, and this blue trench coat is definitely that. Also worn as a dress when I was newly pregnant, and styled with red heels and my go-to leopard bag, I’m wearing the tar out of this blue trench and have no intention of stopping now.

This fall, Madewell made their version of the blue trench with this denim duster. It sold out so fast last season that I didn’t get my hands on it, but I’m so excited to have a second chance at it this season. Tailoring is so important for clothes to be flattering, so if you take the plunge with this denim duster consider having your tailor take up the length to right above your knee. That is a universally flattering length, and you’ll get much more use out of it that way.

the bag

It’s hard to believe I’ve had this Louis Vuitton bag for ten years because I love it just as much as the day I got it, and it doesn’t look a day over 2 years old. I have carried it so much…two trips to Paris, constantly to work, countless carry-on flights and on so many rainy days and it still looks amazing. One of the great thing about a classic like this is that you can find it at a lot of different price points. The Real Real always stocks lots of barely used and vintage versions of this bag, and Louis Vuitton is always stocked with the style in tons of leathers and colors.

the shoes

You may remember me making some style resolutions in the new year, and these Kitty Flats were the first to get me on my way to keeping my resolutions. I’ve worn them a lot since I got them back in January, and fully intend on wearing them through the spring and summer even though they are black velvet. Velvet is usually reserved for the cold months, but this style is reminiscent of a smoking slipper so it totally works in the hot months as well. I’m more of a dog person, but I’m crazy for these kitty flats.
