what I’m wearing…
Karen Walker sunglasses // NARS lipstick in Lana // J.CREW chambray shirt, also love this similar chambray shirt // Rebecca Minkoff gold crossbody bag // J.CREW white jeans, love this similar pair // Chanel ballet flats, love these cap toe ballet flats // photos by the talented Lauren Anderson //
Most of the time I build an outfit around my clothes and fill in the accessories later, but with this outfit I started with this gold crossbody bag, and the clothes followed. I always get so bored with trying to dress for the heat this time of year, so it’s a perfect time to let your accessories shine. I most recently paired this gold bag with a striped dress and Converse, and loved that casual look. This gold crossbody bag is currently on sale at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, so don’t miss it while it’s just over $100.
Denim is such a staple in the modern wardrobe, and that definitely doesn’t mean just jeans. I wear my chambray shirt with everything from skirts, other denim and even sequin shorts. A chambray shirt is a great top to pair with black jeans, as seen here, and it’s always perfect for the weekend. This similar J.CREW chambray is currently in stock, and I just fell in love with this DL1961 chambray shirt that may need to come home with me.
Coco Chanel was famously self-conscious about her big feet, so she designed the iconic cap-toe ballet flat to elongate her legs and minimize the length of her foot. I, for one, could not be more grateful for her foot fixation because these flats go with practically everything and take the style level up a million notches with whatever I pair them with. I most recently paired them with this spotted jumpsuit (also included in the #NSale for $53), and loved wearing them with a leopard dress and tweed jacket. I recently found these similar cap-toe ballet flats at a very appealing price, and the Chanel stores always stocks this classic style.
