the trench coat

While mixing prints, trying new trends and going out on a fashion limb, it’s important to anchor your outfit with classic pieces like this trench coat. I would always rather see someone taking a fashion risk than playing it too safe, so when taking those risks it’s important to incorporate classic pieces to bring your fashion adventure back down to earth, and not look too trendy. This classic trench coat was just what this wild look needed.

See how I most recently wore my trench coat with boyfriend jeans, and also with track pants and red heels.

the top

If you follow along with my Instagram stories, you probably saw that I recently recovered our living room couch with velvet leopard fabric…swoon! So I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I’ve been getting such great use out of this leopard blouse from Equipment (also available at Nordstrom).

First worn with boyfriend jeans, and most recently layered over a plaid bomber jacket, this blouse, that Equipment makes every season, has quickly become a MVP in my closet. Size note on this top…size down for a classic fit. I bought a medium, but it’s pretty roomy and could have worn a small.

the pants

At first glance camo pants might not seem versatile, but this fall I have been wearing them lots of different ways. I’ve worn them with a blue ruffle striped shirt, with a pink blazer and today I took a walk on the wild side with a leopard blouse. I think they have turned out to be so versatile because they are kind of a modern-day classic like a striped shirt or leopard coat. Sounds loud at first, but in actuality they go with a lot.
