For my first blog post of 2020, I want to help you start the year on the right foot by making a list of 20 items you definitely won’t regret buying this year! Here is a list of my tried-and-true closet staples, and a few things on my personal shopping list, that you will wear all of 2020, and well into the new decade.
- Glam, but inexpensive shades– Don’t get me wrong, a $300+ sunglass purchase is a good investment, but lately I’ve enjoyed not having the pressure to keep such a commonly used accessory from getting scratched and dropped.
- Matching Top & Pants- I love a matching set because you can wear it together, pair the top with jeans, put the pants with a striped shirt…the possibilities are endless.
- Oversized Jean Jacket– The key word here is oversized because then you can throw it over your shoulders with a midi dress, or pair it with a white bow blouse and black pants to spice up some classics.
- Headband that doesn’t pinch– How can I justify paying $65 and up for a headband? Because the headbands made by Lele Sadoughi don’t pinch your head even when you wear them all day! Comfort is king in my book.
- Matching Top & Pants– see number 2
- Chanel flats- I’ve been wearing Chanel flats for about a decade, and I just cannot find another shoe that beats them. They always add the perfect amount of polish to everything, including sweatpants, and are so comfortable. I also love my Chanel-inspired kitten heels!
- Gold bangle you can wear every day– Usually “every day jewelry” means dainty, understated pieces, but I love perpetually wearing something with a little more oomph.
- Sleeveless Trench– Whether you pair this with leggings and a white button up, or make it more polished with a pleated midi skirt and blouse, a sleeveless trench is a must-have.
- Casual Leopard Bag– I didn’t realize how much I would carry a casual leopard bag until Clare V. gifted this bag to me this fall. It goes with so much!
- Well-made striped shirt– You can find a great striped shirt at any price, but if you’re going to wear one often, I suggest treating yourself to a well-made version.
- Statement Jacket– Such a great piece to throw over jeans and a t-shirt on your way out to dinner, or to really dress up with a coordinating outfit.
- Simple earrings that pack a punch– Last Christmas my mom gave me some vintage Chanel earrings that fit this exact description, and I’ve worn them at least weekly.
- Something Camo– Like leopard, camo has become a modern-day essential, so a jacket, button up or camo pair of pants is a MUST.
- Classic Red Heels– They add the perfect amount of color to most outfits, and look amazing with distressed jeans.
- Pleated Midi Skirt– I wear mine with sneakers and heels, t-shirts and blouses. They are so versatile!
- Lady bag that goes from day to night– Adds polish to anything you pair it with, and is great for travel.
- This exact leopard blouse– I own this exact one, and I’m obsessed. It goes so well from work to weekend!
- Pajama Set– It’s just fantastic to feel put-together, even when you’re sleeping.
- Luxe Makeup Bag– It’s not the most exciting purchase at first, but you use a makeup bag multiple times daily, so the cost per wear is like zero.
- Fancy Sneakers– At first I wasn’t into the whole $600 sneaker thing, but when you think about how much you wear sneakers, it’s totally a solid investment.
